Condom demonstration Transcript Voice over: Condom Demonstration Nurse: I’ll just go through how we do it and then if you have any questions, you can stop me and you can have a go at the end yourself. First thing to remember is they always have an expiry date. People don’t realise that condoms can expire, so it’s important that you know they’re in date. The penis needs to be hard otherwise if you put it on when it’s only semi hard it won’t go on properly. So the most important thing is to pinch the top because if you just put it on like this there will be a big bubble of air at the top and the condom can burst. Girl: Okay Nurse: You pinch the top, that’s to remove all the air, you put it at the top and then you roll it right down and it’s important you go right down to the very base of the penis otherwise it could slip off again. After you’ve had intercourse and he comes it’s important you remove the condom more or less immediately. Sometimes when people stay inside, the condom could slip off or some sperm can leak out. When he is withdrawing it’s important to hold the base while he withdraws and don’t go back in after he comes because you can still pick up infections that way, or don’t turn the condom inside out. There are all sorts of different things people sometimes do so it’s important to be aware that it is removed and that he doesn’t go back in afterwards, a lot of the time people just worry about the pregnancy but you can pick up infections even after he comes.
